Rehabilitation Services

March 20, 2015

The Hillandale Family of Communities strives to restore patients’ strength, balance, and mobility through our rehabilitation services. The goal of our therapy services is to help our patients regain the level of function they had before they became ill or injured. Our staff creates individualized care plans for short-term or long-term rehabilitative therapies.

What is Physical Therapy?

Physical Therapy is the treatment of an injury or disease by physical methods rather than by drugs or surgery. At Hillandale communities, we use various methods to aid in your recovery.

Our physical therapists use state-of-the-art pneumatic machines from HUR, Keiser, and Biodex to help improve balance, strength, coordination, walking and mobility.

The Gait Trainer is used in helping patients regain their ability to walk by giving them continuous Biofeedback, allowing the patient to make immediate corrections and track their progress.

Patients use our Biodex Balance Machine to see where they are physically and where they need to be in order to improve their balance and reduce falls.  This machine provides data-driven goals to help patients stay motivated on their path to recovery.

What is Speech Therapy?

Our speech therapy targets areas such as swallowing, language, and cognition to help those in our health care communities regain these abilities.

Through VitalStim therapy we can help patients who suffer from difficulty swallowing restore function so they can safely swallow once more. We have a certified VitalStim therapist onsite at all three of our Cincinnati and Mason locations.

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy focuses on rehabilitation through the performance of tasks used in daily life. Our occupational therapy emphasizes independent living so patients can return home.

Our Therapy Cottage simulates environments found in a typical home where patients can safely perform tasks with a therapist nearby to advise them of safe techniques. Our cottage contains a kitchen, bedroom, laundry, and a bathroom to help complete daily tasks as they would at home.
