What is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC)?

December 4, 2012

A CCRC is a community that offers a full spectrum of care to meet the needs of the individual. This includes independent living for the active, mature adult who finds comfort in knowing that their future needs are taken care of should they eventually require assistance medically or personally; assisted and light-assisted living for seniors who like their independence but may require assistance with daily medications or personal care; skilled nursing for adults who require assistance and oversight with daily medical care and personal care needs; memory assisted care for those with Alzheimers or other memory-impairment; and short-term rehabilitation for adults recovering from injury or illness. Whatever their individual needs, a CCRC community empowers retired adults by providing them the individual level of support that they need, through housing, medical care, therapies, social activities and other amenities and services. This enables mature adults to use their abilities to live life to its fullest.
